    Prepare to be captivated as over 300 dancers, representing 21 studios and 7 vibrant genres, come together for a breathtaking one-night-only performance of Centre Stage. This spectacular showcase of rhythm, grace, and passion will light up the Artscape Opera House on 21 June 2026, 

    With ambassadorship from Cape Town City Ballet’s retired principal dancer, Laura Bosenberg, Centre Stage is a fundraising event in support of Cape Town City Ballet, with all proceeds directly benefiting the company. This special evening not only celebrates the artistry of dance but also honours those who have shaped its legacy.

    With beautiful dances, Tchaikovsky’s stunning music and themes of wonder and imagination, ‘The Nutcracker’ has become a beloved holiday tradition for audiences of all ages. 

    This version of The Nutcracker is choreographed by Veronica Paeper, sets and costumes by Peter Cazalet.

    Making its premiere in 2003, Swingtime, choreographed by Sean Bovim, takes the audience on a nostalgic journey of the Big Band Era. The story centres around Bojangles, the owner of the Swing Club where it all happened. Bojangles’ journey takes the audience back in time where romance was the order of the day, and dancing was a way of life for the young and young-at-heart. 

    The audience will accompany Bojangles on his trip down memory lane where he remembers his past loves and the shenanigans during his time at the Swing Club. The perfect marriage between Broadway and Ballet, providing a high-impact production and a visual feast that will entertain audiences of all ages.

    ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD

    Step into the dazzling world of Orpheus in the Underworld, a ballet bursting with wit, glamour, and irresistible charm! Loosely inspired by Jacques Offenbach’s comic operetta, this 1920s-set production features flapper girls, Mafia henchmen, Can-Can dancers, and even a penthouse swimming pool for the Gods! With music specially arranged by Michael Tuffin.

    With choreography by Veronica Paeper, and original designs by Peter Cazalet, this ballet is a riotous romp through love, mischief, and divine chaos. When Eurydice runs off with Pluto, Orpheus is thrilled, but meddling gods and a nightclub Underworld ensure hilarity and spectacle. A timeless crowd-pleaser, this production promises pure entertainment and unforgettable fun!

    DRACULA

    Cape Town City Ballet will present David Nixon’s electrifying full-length adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula at the Artscape Opera House from 13–29 March 2026. Set to music by Alfred Schnittke, Arvo Pärt, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Michael Daugherty,
    Nixon originally created Dracula in 1999 for BalletMet and over the years it has become one of his most celebrated narrative ballets, acclaimed for its cinematic Gothic atmosphere, theatrical invention and physically daring choreography.

    Nixon, who will direct this new production bespoke to Cape Town City Ballet, is also responsible for the set, stage and costume design, ensuring every element reflects his visionary interpretation. The ballet will be performed to recorded music and PG12 is advised.
