Requiem is a powerful reimagining of Mozart’s Requiem. Choreographed by Dane Hurst, this evocative production merges Mozart’s final masterpiece with the raw physicality and expressive artistry of Cape Town City Ballet’s dancers. A deeply moving meditation on life, loss, and the soul’s journey; conceived during COVID-19 as both an act of remembrance and a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit.

Originally created for Opera North and Phoenix Dance Theatre in collaboration with Cape Town Opera and Jazzart Dance Theatre. Requiem is a new production staging for Cape Town City Ballet with kind permission from Phoenix Dance Theatre.
Complementing the profound intensity of Requiem are exquisite extracts from Alexander Glazunov’s celebrated ballet Raymonda staged by Tracy Li. Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa, Raymonda is renowned for its elegant classical choreography and vibrant musical score. These selected excerpts will highlight the technical prowess and refined artistry of Cape Town City Ballet’s dancers, offering audiences a dazzling display of classical ballet tradition and grace.
